Minnesota Genealogical Society

Volunteer with MGS!

Please consider helping MGS achieve its mission to provide an association of those interested in genealogy, to collect and publish material relating to Minnesota families, to hold meetings for the instruction and interest of its members, to foster and increase an interest in genealogy, and to encourage the establishment of genealogical departments in libraries throughout the state.

Here are some current openings for volunteers:
  • Library volunteers: The MGS library is entirely staffed by volunteers. Duties include opening and closing the library, answering the phone, and helping library patrons find materials. New volunteers work with experienced volunteers. No experience is necessary. Contact Kelly Frost at libvolunteers@mngs.org
  • Event planning: Help plan and deliver MGS’ fall and spring conferences. Contact Bill Holmquist at wcholm@aol.com.
  • Photo-quality printer expert: MGS now has a photo-quality Canon PIXMA PRO-100 printer that will enable patrons to print materials in color. The MGS Library Committee is looking for a volunteer to become proficient with the new printer and develop procedures for operating it. Contact the Library at 651-455-9057.
