    Description:
    Knowing your ancestors' arrival dates and places, along with tracking their movements within North America, will help you develop theories about their migration motives and guide your research. Mary will provide an overview of Irish migration patterns and demonstrate how to leverage this information for your search.

    You can enjoy this presentation at the live event or as part of our virtual audience. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and discussion until the scheduled end time, when the broadcast and recording will stop. Attendees at the live event can linger for social time after the program, and have the option of ordering a box lunch in advance. Registration for the live event is limited. Tours of the Research Library and Irish Collection will be offered during the lunch and social time.

    About the Speaker:
    Mary Wickersham is a professional genealogist who has been researching her own Irish roots for almost 25 years. Mary was an early user of Ancestry.com and other major genealogy databases. She has been very active in the leadership of IGSI for many years, and recently serves as Web Editor and Co-Managing Editor of The Septs. She has taught many classes for IGSI and many other organizations. Mary is a member of the Association for Professional Genealogists.

    An Irishman from Cork, born about 1845, settled in Wisconsin. Learn the records and methods we used to identify six of his eleven siblings in America, then trace the family back to Ireland, where we learned about his other five siblings and his parents.

    About the Speaker:
    Lois Abromitis Mackin, Ph.D., is a professional genealogist focusing on American and British Isles research. Lois writes and teaches about genealogical records and methods, including DNA. She was a founding member of the Minnesota Genealogical Society DNA interest group. She supports several lineage societies at the state level and is a member of the IGSI Education Committee.
