Need Some Help With Your Research?
The Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS) Research Committee is made up of volunteers willing to help you with your genealogy questions! However, we do not interpret DNA test results nor do we assist adoptees with searching for biological family.
GENEALOGY RESEARCH ($25/hour)

If you are able to commit with a downpayment of $25.00, click on the Add to Cart button. You may pay for more units by increasing the quantity.
DOCUMENT RETRIEVAL SERVICES ($10/hour)
If you are looking for photocopies of pages from books held in our library, we can accommodate under our new document retrieval services. The minimum rate is $10 per hour. If there are more than 4 requested pages, we will mail the documents to you. Jump down to the Document Retrieval PayPal Add to Cart Button.
Use this button for document retrieval, $10 per hour. You may pay for more units by increasing the quantity.
We encourage you to contact the Research Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org for an estimate. Please have specific questions for us, and include family names, locations in Minnesota, dates, and where/when the person was born. Please remember to include your contact information.
We can also research outside the Hoffman Research Library (for example, at the Minnesota Historical Society) and we have access to extensive online sources. Many people from other states and foreign countries with family connections in Minnesota have been helped successfully in the past.
Although the focus of our collection is on Minnesota, we have research materials for other states and countries. What is available in our online catalog may surprise you.
If you contact us via mail, please make your $25 check or money order payable to: Minnesota Genealogical Society and mail to:

Ethnic Research Guides
We have posted some ethnic research guides in the Public Downloads section of our website. We encourage other ethnic groups to submit their Help Guides to the Webmaster.
When to look elsewhere
The Minnesota Genealogical Society does not participate in Inter-Library Loans. Our collection does not circulate and is available only for research at our library. If you want to borrow a copy of an item in our collection, check WorldCat to locate a copy nearest to you.
