As our traditional Spring Potluck, we will be treated to a virtual cooking lesson!
Cathy Mahowald will demonstrate the “art" of making aebleskiver. She will use the recipe that the Danish American Center uses at their monthly aebleskive breakfasts during the fall, winter, and spring. Cathy claims no Danish blood but has been accepted as an honorary Dane. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Danish American Center because she is so impressed with the organization and its dedication promoting Danish culture through activities and programming.
Joel Mortensen will discuss making medisterpolse, a Danish sausage that is a staple of many Danish meals. Each fall he hosts a class where DAC members come and prepare the sausage themselves. Joel traced his heritage back to 1613 on the island of Mors. The recipes he uses to make the medisterpolse come from Tyler, MN, Askov, MN and Luck, WI. All of them originated in Denmark.
