Description: Historical literature, both fiction and non-fiction, can help us to better understand the world in which our ancestors lived and the events that shaped their lives. This webinar looks at how to use historical literature to flesh out the stories of our ancestors and explore the circumstances behind their genealogical facts.
About the Speaker: Karen A. Fortin has degrees in History and Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida, and has a passion for research. She worked at the Barbara S. Ponce Public Library in Pinellas Park, Florida, for 30 years before starting her genealogical business in 2016. Karen served as President of the Pinellas Genealogy Society in Largo, Florida, from 2014–2017 and currently serves as Projects Director. She has presented more than 150 lectures on a wide range of genealogical and historical topics. She is a member of various local, state, and national genealogical societies, the Genealogical Speakers Guild, and the Association of Professional Genealogists. Karen loves to help people explore their family history so that they can better understand their ancestors and the world in which they lived.
