The Mysterious George Hunter: persistence & methodology prevail

  • 23 Mar 2024
  • 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Goto Webinar

Presented by Joe Hunter, sponsored by the Irish Genealogical Society International.

Audience Level – Beyond beginner

Description:
Some ancestors can be so elusive that it seems they may have vanished intentionally. Using alternative methods in your research can compensate for missing and incomplete records by uncovering ‘indirect evidence’ that may help break down those stubborn research mysteries. Applying the Genealogy Proof Standard, we will consider the building blocks for approaching a “brickwall” challenge: a concise research hypothesis, plan, and strategy, the value of a timeline, and solid citations along the way.

About the Speaker:
Joe has a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University (OL29), a certificate of completion in the ProGen 50 Study Group, and serves on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (GPAC-APG). He is also the Presentation Coordinator for The Main Line Genealogy Club (MLGC), the Distance Member Coordinator of The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA), and is a volunteer genealogist for the Vineland Historical & Antiquarian Society (VHAS).

On most days, Joe can be found pursuing some forgotten ancestor in an obscure townland in Ireland. As his wife likes to say, “Joe, you have more dead friends than living ones”. Genealogy is the gift that keeps on giving. So, there is no time to waste!

Cost:
$15 for IGSI members (Discount Code posted on member-only webpage link) $25 for non-members.
