Presented by Christine Cohen, sponsored by the Minnesota Genealogical Society.
Description: Christine Cohen will discuss the many ways to reach out to distant living cousins to help you expand your pedigree chart forward in time. You may connect with a cousin to find family bibles, old photos, DNA test takers and genealogical information that will break down your brick wall. Christine will explore online family trees, lineage society applications, cemetery records, obituaries in newspapers, living people finder websites and social media to place bait and track down those cousins.
About the Speaker: Christine Cohen is a longtime member of the Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS), and currently the Program Director. In addition to WAGS, she is also a member of the El Redondo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Society of Daughters of Holland Dames, and the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Christine’s interest in genealogy began in 1977 with the airing of the TV mini-series “Roots” and was piqued when finding a typed pedigree chart of her Dutch heritage from the New Netherlands in the 1660s. Christine is a native Californian, a graduate of UCLA in Political Science, and retired to pursue her passion for genealogy full time.
Christine’s previous MGS webinar is available in the members-only area of the MGS website: 6 September 2023 — “Grand Army of the Republic: Researching Your Union Civil War Veteran.”
