After immigrating to America, many of our ancestors settled in, stayed for awhile, or at least passed through the Chicagoland area. With this in mind, the National Danish-American Genealogical Society is presenting a "virtual field trip" to explore the genealogical resources at the Newberry Library of Chicago.
The Newberry's stacks bulge with maps, family papers, genealogies, railroad archives and much, much more. Learn what’s available for your U.S. and European forebears and how to access it in person or from a distance. The talk will include some highlights of Danish-American material. Speaker Grace Dumelle is a longtime staffer in the Local and Family History section of the Newberry Library in Chicago. She is an alumna of the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research and the author of Finding Your Chicago Ancestors: A Beginner's Guide to Family History in the City and Cook County.
