MARGIE DEUTSCH
1940 - 2026

It is with great sadness that MGS shares news of the passing of "super member" Margie Deutsch on January 7, 2026.

Margie served as a weekly volunteer for the Minnesota Genealogical Society for 18 years, and held leadership roles with the Germanic American Institute and the Pommern Regional Group. Her smile and dedication to MGS were part of every interaction with the thousands of patrons she assisted over those many years. Thursdays were "Margie days," as she welcomed visitors at the Library reference desk, She always went the last mile to find  just the right resources and send researchers off with ideas of where to look for answers.

Margie visited Germany a total of 14 times. During these trips, she visited friends and family, explored museums and historical sites, and researched her family history. In addition to her frequent travels to Germany, she and her husband Manfred explored China, Norway, England, the Soviet Union, Australia and New Zealand.
