Are you among the millions across the world with Presbyterian ancestors from Ireland? Dr. Roulston will help you to identify and learn more about these forebears.

Different strands of Presbyterianism were found in Ireland, so a array of records from those denominations can be confusing. Where can this material can be accessed for research? Records vary: the higher courts of Presbyterianism, individual congregations, as well as personal papers of individual ministers. Whether your ancestors were Covenanters, Seceders, or Non-Subscribers, whether devout or merely nominal, whether they remained in Ireland or emigrated, Dr Roulston can help to navigate and have fruitful research.

Dr William Roulston will give his presentation from Belfast. He has a PhD in Archaeology and for nearly 30 years he has been with the Ulster Historical Foundation as a researcher, author, and lecturer. He speaks widely in the UK, Ireland and North America on on a range of historical and genealogical subjects.

Details of the program

William Roulston grew up in County Tyrone. He has been a researcher with the Ulster Historical Foundation since 1997 and has served as Research Director since 2006. His PhD from Queen’s University Belfast in Archaeology in 2004 included a thesis on places of worship of the Established Church in the north of Ireland, 1600–1740.

He is the author of many books examining different aspects of the history of Ireland and the sources for its study, including
